Girls are leading movements in the fight for gender equality and other social justice issues. Their voice and agency are more important than ever to advance the 2030 Agenda towards a more equal and sustainable future.
Calling for applications to UN Women’s Adolescent Girl Advisory Body
UN Women is calling on girls between the ages of 14 – 19 to apply to be an advisor to UN Women with the aim of strengthening the adolescent agenda in UN Women’s implementation of its Strategic Plan 2022 – 2025, and its intersection with the Generation Equality Forum outcomes, including Action Coalitions and Movement Sustainability. Twenty adolescent girls will be selected to work together to provide insights for the effective integration of adolescent girls’ needs, priorities, and rights at UN Women. Selected Adolescent Girl Advisors will also contribute to adolescent girl programmatic portfolios, projects, and also lead on global advocacy initiatives related to adolescent girls.
Girls in all their diversities are invited to apply here until 21 February 2022. Girls who apply should be supported by an adolescent-led, adolescent-focused, adolescent-serving organization, collective or network, a youth-led, youth-focused, youth-serving organization, network or movement.
Members of the Adolescent Girl Advisory Body will be selected based on criteria, which include: regional and geographic representation; lived experience and intersectional identities; and, experience in leadership and gender equality at community level.
